Dear Family,
OK so this is going to have to be really short and my letters aren't that long either. Sorry! Please know that I love you all and hope you are doing as well as I am and better!
This week was another testimony building one! Our wonderful investigator who we love so much has stopped drinking tea. Let me tell you a story...
Tuesday we taught her the Word of Wisdom. We hadn't even finished introducing the basics of it when she asked if tea was part of the Word of Wisdom. She explained that because of her many jobs and her weird work schedules she only gets three hours of sleep each night and she uses tea to stay awake. She has to drive long distances in some cases and is very afraid of falling asleep at the wheel. Sister Moreno Diaz and I were a little concerned as we explained and promised that the Lord would ask her to do nothing that she couldn't Handel and that he would provide a way for her to over come this addiction. As soon as we finished she said, "I will not drink tea ever again starting right now." I cried of course and Sister Moreno Diaz was so excited! There was a member of the ward with us who testified that over coming addictions is hard but that it is so possible when we seek the Lords help (we would be lost without members in our lessons!). After the lesson our investigator said the closing prayer and begged the Lords help in this challenge.
The next day we got a text from her telling us that she had stayed in bed all day because of a severe headache. Her headache was so bad that she was sick to her stomach! Poor lady! We asked her if she would like to have a Priesthood blessing and she gratefully agreed. Sister Moreno Diaz and I fasted for her the next day and when we went to teach her and have the Elders give her a blessing she told us that her headache was a little better but that she was so happy to be getting a blessing. We left her that day feeling so grateful that we were able to teach such a wonderful, faithful lady. The next day we got a text from her telling us that her headache was almost gone! She said that she knew that she could do anything through the Lord and his Priesthood power!
I guess the point in telling you all this is that 1. This lady is such an example to me and everyone she meets and 2. When we truly have faith and hope that the Lord will do as he promised, we can do anything.
I am so blessed to be here in Bay Shore! The members are amazing, the people are amazing, and the sunsets almost match Arizona's :)
Have a wonderful week! I love you all so much!... jk about this being short :)
Love,
Sister Hamblin:)
P.S.
I still don't have stamps so if you don't get any letters this week.... I'm really sorry I forgot to pick them up when we were at the store... :(
