Dear Family,
My email told all about the blizzard but let me tell you more about this wonderful week! Tuesday and Wednesday we as sisters in the mission had a Woman's Conference! It was the first one , well official one, that this mission has had since this Mission President was called! It was so fun! I got to meet so many wonderful Sisters who are so amazing! They have such wonderful testimonies and they love serving the Lord!
Tuesday when we got there, it was really about getting to know each other and to introduce the theme of the conference which was D&C 121:45 (Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.)
President Calderwood talked to us about confidence and Pride. He so kindly pointed out that when we say things like "I did so horribly in that lesson" or "I really can't do this" or "I feel so inadequate for such a hard and wonderful calling". Because we are daughters of God and we are here doing His work everything we do should be done with a member of the Godhead. How horrible it would be to say those things with we instead of I! Suggesting Christ, the Holy Ghost or God can't teach a lesson, etc. is horrible! President said that we need to realize that because we are doing the Lord's work He really is and can be with us all the time. When we seek and become humble to receive a member of the Godhead in our teaching, finding, and re-activating efforts, the only thing that can stop us is the other person's agency. But most likely they will want to act positively toward coming unto Christ. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful Mission President.
Wednesday we heard from the traveling sisters about charity. Oh it was so wonderful! They gave us scenerios about when we would use charity and how when we have charity, again, we cannot fail.
Sister Calderwood talked to us about self talk and being always positive! She is awesome!
We also had a mini self-defense class from the wife of a NYPD Officer. She herself is a native New Yorker and has had several needs for self defense, but she admits they have all been because she was being "stupid". It was really good and fun to hear form her and Sister Calderwood.
Well, I guess I'll close for today. I hope you all are doing well! I love you so much! Thank you for your support and prayers!
Dad, Sister Moreno Diaz loves the 3 Kings/Magi and really appreciated your letter from Christmas. Also, she would like me to inform you that they really are 3 kings, not magi...or whatever you call them.
Mom, Sister Moreno Diaz really enjoys my bear claw back scratcher...I think I am going to need another one :)
Riann, PROM? Keep me updated!
Rad, Could you please tell me about your friends, yes all of them, I don't know any that aren't our cousins. Thank you!
Love,
Sister Hamblin :)
