Dear Family,
Oh conference was so good! We are extremely blessed to be living in a day where even though we are hundreds of miles away we are able to see the prophet speak to us, in real time. We are so blessed to be able to learn from these inspired men and women who speak for the Lord. What a blessing! Among many Sister Dalton's talk was a favorite. Her cry for a return to Virtue caused the hearts of one of our "kind-of" investigators to turn a little more towards the light and truth.
This week has been all around great! With the exception of having to say goodbye to Sister Moreno Diaz, that was sad. She is a great missionary and will continue to bless my life forever. However, my new companion is super amazing too! Her name is Sister McKee and she is from Bear Lake Utah. She is 19 and she is just so sweet! She came out for the same reason I did and she is so excited about the work! She loves everyone I tell her about. We haven't been able to meet with very many people yet but she already really truly loves them.
This morning we were able to go to the most eastern part of Long Island, called Mauntauk, and watch the sun rise! It was seriously one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. It was almost too cloudy to see it happen, and we had to use the light from the light house to find our way there, but as it rose and the waves were crashing, it was so peaceful and calming. The ocean is so beautiful at 6 in the morning! The elders we were with made the experience so much better because of their great humor and their excitement over leaving Bay Shore at 3 in the morning to be able to see it rise on time. I am really so lucky to be serving with such great boys. Anyone wanting to visit Long Island needs to go to Mauntauk and watch the sun rise. It is a must.
Mom, I think your idea to start an English class at the church is a great idea! If you need any help, "Ask the Missionaries, They Can Help You" (Elder Nelson). There are a lot of people in New York who have gone to free English classes, Spanish classes, and so on, at the church who have later investigated the church and become members. You are so inspired! I am learning more and more that there are so many ways for us to share the gospel with our friends and neighbors. God really does care for each of His children and if he has to show it through an English class so be it.
I love you all so much! Thank you again, really, thank you, for your prayers and letters. You are so great!
Love,
Sister Hamblin :)
P.S.
Just so everyone knows, the church has authorized missionaries to email all friends and family members as long as they don't live in our specific missions... just thought everyone would like to know :)
