Dear Sister Hamblin,
You are invited to be a trainer for one of the new missionaries who have arrived in the mission field. I have given careful and prayerful consideration to those we might assign to this very important responsibility. I have sought and received the wise counsel of my assistants in this important responsibility. In the vast majority of cases, those invited to train remained in their current area so they would not have the added challenge of learning a new area while also training a new missionary.
I invite you to give specific, focused attention to the following:
1. Please follow the 12-week Infield Training for new missionaries, prepared for helping new missionaries start off their mission with hard work and confidence.
2. Please diligently follow the schedule each day so that your companion feels the blessing and strength that comes from consistent study, finding efforts, teaching lessons, working with progressing investigators and with members, daily planning sessions and obtaining adequate rest.
3. Invite your companion to share in the responsibilities of the work so that his or her confidence grows from participation and not just observation.
4. The new missionary you are training should be able to train at the end of the 12 weeks.
Thank you again for your willing acceptance of this vital responsibility. There is no more important assignment we make in our mission. God bless you and your companion.
Warmly,
Kevin E. Calderwood
Mission President
